Jacksonville residents are served by Onslow County Schools, which is among the 15 largest school systems in North Carolina. The district has 39 educational facilities with more than 27,000 students currently enrolled. The school district has steadily grown throughout the years, increasing by an average of 300 students per year. In addition to its public schools, this district offers an early college high school, a childhood development center, and an alternative learning program.
